That's NOT It!

Design beyond the obvious

Design is not always about rethinking education, health, pollution, climate change etc, it is also about rethinking matters that are a part and parcel of our day-to-day life. Be it a door handle, mug we sip our coffee from, the way meetings take place or the way we celebrate an occasion. Anything from our daily chores to our work environment could be rethought. Why let things be just the way they have been?

That’s NOT it - design beyond the obvious - is such a program where we want to challenge, rethink and reimagine day-to-day activities, products and services.

We aim to foster
CREATIVITY, INNOVATION,
ENTERPRENEURIAL and DOER MINDSET
through DESIGN CHALLENGE

How will it run?

It will be a 3-day intensive design challenge from May 20 (Friday) to May 22 (Sunday). Each design challenge topic will have 2 teams working on it.

Program flow:
  • It starts by picking up a design challenge for the given topics
  • Each individual prepares a 1- minute pitch, and pitches an idea on the first day
  • All the participants get to vote for the ideas and 8 ideas will be picked (the idea that did not get through will join a team with the selected ideas)
  • The team hence formed will work on the idea intensively for the remaining time period
  • Facilitators will provide support and input sessions
  • The teams will pitch their final idea with a tangible prototype to a team of judges
  • Everyone gets cool certificates but one awesome idea (team) will be announced as a winner

Our Program Approach

During the design challenge, participants working in a team will be incharge of their actions. They need to figure out ways to come up with solutions to the problems. Facilitators and coaches will be there. However, their role will be limited to asking questions, challenging their thinking and facilitating different phases of the design process.

We want participants to:
  • Think with their hands
  • Challenge their thoughts and the ways things have been
  • Push beyond what is probable
  • Empathize, learn and build
  • Seek discomfort and accept complexity
